Luxury Stranger

Luxury Stranger are considered a 'dark/evil art indie' band, mainly influenced by the sounds of post-punk/cold wave and indie from 1978 - 1984 and the 90s American ‘Grunge’ and punk scenes.

Imagine: David Bowie and Iggy Pop’s Berlin years mixed with a dash of Bolan glam, the disparate sound of Joy Division and early Cure, the energy and darkness of 90s ‘Grunge’ with the melodies of Martin L Gore and power of The Chameleons and Echo & the Bunnymen - This is Luxury Stranger.

Luxury Stranger began in 2006 when frontman/composer/multi-instrumentalist Simon York wrote and recorded the first LS album, 'Desolation'. He soon afterward pulled together live musicians to help take LS out into the live arena. Through various line-up changes, several trips to tour parts of Europe, many shows with influential and highly favoured contemporary bands and artistes (including Gary Numan, Spear of Destiny, ChameleonsVox, Toy, S.C.U.M, O Children, and many more), two albums, one EP, three singles (one of which, 'Nothing Holy', entered the European Alternative singles top 40 at number 4 in Dec 2012), the band is now sifting through a pile of tracks written by Simon to prepare material for the third album.

Luxury Stranger aim to get their recorded music heard by everyone and play shows as often as possible, reaching out to current and faithful fans while building up new fans across the UK, Europe and beyond...
